What to do in San Pedro de Alcántara

Blessed with Costa del Sol’s all-year-round temperate climate, outdoor activities are abundant, including multiple world-class golf courses, within the local vicinity. In fact, it’s the perfect location for those interested in purchasing golf properties, as within a short 10-minute drive you can reach Los Arqueros, La Quinta, El Higueral, Guadalmina, Las Brisas, Atalaya Golf & Country Club., El Campanario and the aforementioned private courses at La Zagaleta.  Similarly, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, cycling, water sports in the sea and at the Cable Ski Lake.   The area also has many paddle and tennis clubs, and municipal sport complexes offering everything from indoor climbing walls to swimming pools, plus there are some superb private gyms such as the IO.

Shopping in San Pedro de Alcantara

The town centre is busy and bustling, it is the nearest taste you will get to the traditional Andalusian lifestyle. The narrow streets are lined with independent businesses and mom and pop stores, including clothes, furniture and even shops dedicated to everything flamenco. There some chain stores such as Primor, but if you want designer clothes or big brands, a branch of Spain’s biggest department store El Corte Ingles is located in Puerto Banús and La Cañada, a large shopping mall just above Marbella town centre. If you don’t fancy driving, Guadalmina and La Colonia commercial centres are in easy walking distance, both offer a small selection of shops and restaurants.

In addition to the shops, there are solicitors, gestors, doctors and located a few minutes out of the town centre there is an industrial estate, where you’ll find building supplies, furnishings and large brand car showrooms, including Europe’s largest Ferrari showroom – Rosso Corsa.

Every Thursday there is a general market held on ground close to the industrial estate, selling everything you can think of from art to apples. A larger market is held on Saturday mornings just below the bullring in Puerto Banús.

Eating out in San Pedro de Alcantara

The beaches are pebbly but extremely clean and flat, and you find many of fish restaurants and beach clubs dotted along its shores, including chringuitos offering freshly cooked simple food, and a superb beachfront view, and also several beach clubs, like Alabardero Beach Club Marbella, where you can enjoy lunch, dinner a cocktail and laze around the pool during the summer months.  You can also try Bora Bora, El Ancon and Macaco, plus Guayaba which is a little more relaxed just to the west of the town centre.
