Our favourite destinations for dining out on the New Golden Mile Estepona, including some superb beach clubs, including the Trocadero Estepona Beach Club, Spiler beach club at Kempinski Hotel, Barraka Beach in Villacana, Salduna Beach, Sonora Beach next to Los Granados Playa complex, la Vela Azul and Sublim at Laguna Village, which was once devasted by fire but has now risen like a phoenix to provide a stunning social and gastronomic venue.
It is on the New Golden Mile Estepona where you’ll find several 5-star hotels, the most well-known being the Kempinski Hotel Bahia where the world’s most expensive Christmas tree was displayed (decorated diamonds and gems from Bvlgari, Cartier and the Chanel, worth around 12 million euros) and Las Dunas Grand Hotel. In addition, there is El Campanario Country Club, the recently renovated Ikos Andalucia Selenza Thalasso & Spa and the somewhat strangely named, Senator Banús Hotel.
And although officially located in Benahavís, but physically situated on the mountainside of the New Golden Mile, Estepona, there is the above mentioned luxurious Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Hotel, which has been frequented by many big names, including the then First Lady of the USA, Michelle Obama.
Estepona caters for all age groups, offering superb choice of public and fee-paying schools (14 at the last count). Spain’s reputation for excellent health care is also evident in Estepona, where you will find a number of public hospitals, health centres and doctor’s surgeries. There are also many superb private healthcare facilities for those who have private medical insurance or would like to see a private doctor, including the Hospiten hospital on the New Golden Mile, and several others just a few minutes’ drive in Estepona’s town centre.
