El Pimpi Marbella

Marbella Beachfront winter restaurant guide 2024

If like many people who have been lucky enough to become the proud owners of a beachfront property in Marbella, or have invested in townhouse in Nueva Andalucía or indeed managed to find the perfect property for sale in Puerto Banús, your decision to buy real estate on the Costa del Sol, may have been swayed by the famed all-year-round sunshine.

It is true that the Costa del Sol is blessed with all year-round sunshine, however during the winter months Marbella presents a different yet equally appealing character.  Out of the sunshine, there can sometimes be a distinct chill in the air, enticing Marbella’s residents to swap the beachside for fireside when deciding where to dine out.

As the Marbella Beachfront team are long-term residents in Marbella with in depth knowledge of Marbella and its environs, we’ve put together a list of five our favourite restaurants that provide a welcoming and cosy atmosphere in wintertime.

Casanis Bistrot

Casanis Bistro

Casinis Bistro ticks all of the boxes, it is located on a pretty cobbled street in Marbella’s world-famous Old Town, occupying a beautifully restored 150-year-old townhouse, which oozes an eclectic cosy charm.  Dine indoors or al-fresco amongst the fairy lights and flower filled façade and soak up the atmosphere. The Argentinian chef, delivers a compact yet delicious French leaning menu including Duck Confit and Beef Tartar, all accompanied by an extensive wine list. Ideal for a romantic meal, fun with friends and private functions. Definitely a class act that is difficult to beat, making it a favourite amongst locals and visitors alike.

Breath Marbella

Breathe

The Breathe Group has four superb venues, three of which are located in Nueva Andalucía close to the bullring; Breathe Restaurant, Air cocktail bar, Ground artisan bakery and café and the newest addition Soul at the I/O gym in San Pedro de Alcántara. Breathe restaurant has become a firm fixture amongst diners who enjoy combination of modern architecture, a lively atmosphere and delicious good quality food. The unique Mediterranean menu ranges from Galician beef to mouth-watering lobster ravioli. If you enjoy a cheeky cocktail, after dinner you can head up to the rooftop cocktail bar to sample their signature cocktails.

It’s a great concept and exceptionally well executed, offering a great dining experience in laid-back surroundings, ideal for a quiet lunch or lively celebrations.

Alabardero Beach

If you would like to enjoy a sophisticated yet relaxed experience, this recently remodeled beach club ticks all of the boxes, offering a beautiful beachfront location on the paseo in San Pedro de Alcántara, stunning views and a superb menu. The restaurant specializes in Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine and there is a great wine list, enticing you to sit back relax and enjoy the view. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted by friendly staff, who go the extra mile to be helpful.

It is also worth noting, that in the summer there is another element to this restaurant, you can head next door to the chill out area at AMMO for a cocktail by the swimming pool, or to watch the world go by with the long cool drink by the beach.

Part of the Lemaza Group, which runs three schools in the hospitality industry and also offers catering services.

El Pimpi Marbella

El Pimpi, Marbella

You may have heard of or even visited the original El Pimpi in Málaga, initially because it is part owned by Hollywood actor Antonio Banderas and features a host of photos of famous visitors on its walls. However, it is also famed for its cavernous and quirky interior, with a courtyard festooned in greenery, which has been featured in millions of ‘selfies’ of visitors from all over the world.

El Pimpi Marbella offers a more contemporary pared back atmosphere, in keeping with its location in the Puente Romano Beach Resort. However, it delivers an exceptional menu and still features the fresh and seasonal produce and superb service that the original El Pimpi has been serving for over 50 years.

To ensure quality and the company’s commitment to local production, fresh fruit and vegetables are harvested from their own farm “Huerta de El Paraíso,” and delivered to both establishments daily.

Maya Garden

Maya Garden

The most recent addition to our must-try list, is the Maya Garden (also on the paseo in San Pedro de Alcántara), which opened its doors in June 2024. A great beachside location and an exciting diverse menu featuring traditional Spanish flavours and sushi side by side, is impossible to resist. Not only does the menu offer something for every palette, the venue is extremely versatile, equally appealing for a romantic meal and for a family treat, as there is a children’s playground at the rear of the restaurant.

This is just a small snapshot of the many wonderful eateries in and around Marbella that offer a fantastic culinary experience, no matter which season. It is possible to dine out at a different, tapas bar, restaurants (including Michelin starred establishments), beach clubs or café every day, but for now why not give these a go … after all you have to start somewhere!
